Tucked away in an alleyway next to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taoyuan City, there’s a small eatery called JO JO yum cafe&deli that serves international cuisine. Not only is it great value for money, but the dishes are also incredibly creative. With limited seating, the place isn’t crowded at all. Among their offerings is a signature dessert called “Cloud Floating,” crafted with care by the 27-year-old store manager, Zhu. Let’s take a look at what this dessert is all about!

As the name suggests, “Cloud Floating” features a layer of soft, fluffy marshmallows on top of the dessert, resembling beautiful clouds. Sliced strawberries are halved and paired with fresh cream, arranged to look like a snowman. On the side, it’s served with strawberry ice cream and crispy baked waffles (honey toast is also available for customers to choose from). It’s sweet but not overly rich. Once it’s served, the aroma of fruits and marshmallows wafts through the air. The store manager says, “We recommend eating the marshmallows quickly because they’ll start to shrink before long.”

At JO JO yum cafe&deli—also known as “Uncle’s Shop”—aside from delicious flavors, the focus is on creativity and innovation. Store manager Zhu said that since it’s currently strawberry season, they created this item just for this time of year. In the summer, they’ll switch to mango-based desserts and continue to roll out different drinks for customers. Worried about others copying them? The boss laughed and said, “If they copy anything, it’ll be last season’s stuff. This season’s items are too new for them to catch up, and next season’s are still in my head—even prototypes are underway. They can’t possibly copy those too!”
