Another Choice on Taiwan-France Routes: Air France Resumes Flights to Taiwan

The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and Air France jointly welcomed the passengers on the first direct flight from Paris to Taipei as part of the airline’s route resumption, and arranged for Taiwan’s tourism ambassador “Oh Bear (Oh Bear) Team Leader” and a traditional Taiwanese folk performance group, the Electric-Beats San Tai Zi, to greet arrivals on-site.

France is the third-largest source market for visitors to Taiwan in Europe, after Germany and the UK, and has seen steady growth in the number of French travelers to Taiwan in recent years, with an average annual growth rate of 10.5% between 2015 and 2017.

Currently, there are seven weekly direct flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Taiwan. With Air France adding three weekly flights, the total number of direct flights between Taiwan and France will increase to ten per week, offering travelers more convenient options.

Air France has restarted its Taiwan–France direct flights using the Boeing 777-200 aircraft, which features the airline’s new long-haul cabin configuration. The plane accommodates a total of 280 seats, including 40 business class, 24 Premium Economy, and 216 economy class seats. Departures are scheduled for Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with returns on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

There are two positive developments for the French market this year: First, Air France has resumed its Paris–Taipei direct flights after a 20-year hiatus; second, the French-originated Michelin Guide has launched a Taipei edition. With more convenient air travel and a familiar culinary guide, these factors will help enhance Taiwan's visibility in France.
