1. The Water Reflection Shihmen Cafe
Opened last December, The Water Reflection Shihmen quickly gained popularity through media coverage. Built in an "L" shape facing the lake, every angle offers views of the Shihmen Reservoir, with 180-degree panoramas of the water meeting the sky—truly refreshing. The indoor seating area features large glass panels, providing unobstructed views of the scenery. The most distinctive feature is the outdoor pool specially designed to reflect tree shadows, creating a poetic scene of “a front pool and a back reservoir” overlapping with rippling waters.

The outdoor seats are elevated on a wooden platform, offering wider sightlines. Aside from dining, the cafe also has a camping area. The menu includes pasta, risotto, drinks, and afternoon tea treats that are not to be missed.

2. Senlin Lakeside Landscape Cafe
Located beneath Jiaobanshan Park in Taoyuan’s Fuxing District, this small white-red-and-blue wooden cabin cafe stands alone and serene. From here, you can fully take in the most beautiful bend of the Dahan River. The red wooden windows frame the lush mountains and river valley, while the interior exudes warmth. The combination of natural beauty and cozy charm makes for an idyllic rural escape.

The interior is warmly decorated in a simple style. The Atayal-ethnicity owner has infused the space with a “wild beauty.” The menu is diverse, with signature dishes like the “Herb-grilled Pork Ribs,” various rice/noodle options, pancakes, and drinks. Additionally, the owner—who once worked as a folk singer—sometimes performs live.

3. Daxi Lakeside Cafe
Nestled along the midstream of the Shihmen Reservoir, this cafe is surrounded by mountain and water views that change with the seasons—and even by time of day. Arrive early to enjoy the tranquil beauty of dawn, or watch the sunset over the sparkling waters for a romantic experience. Beyond the stunning nature, the cafe’s architecture is also a highlight. Built along the cliff edge and slightly above the water surface, it boasts a 270-degree panoramic view of the lake.

With long operating hours, it serves all three meals, and its signature “Second Wife Coffee” draws inspiration from two peaks across the reservoir that are identical in height and size—a fun detail.
