Hidden in a lane opposite the Taipower headquarters in Gongguan, the rare exotic tree species "Caribbean fishpod tree" has quietly burst into bloom. Its beautiful yellow and white flowers have caught everyone’s eye, drawing crowds to take photos and check in, turning it into a hidden floral gem tucked away in an alley.

This lush Caribbean fishpod tree was accidentally planted 35 years ago by Taipower staff who mistook it for a bodhi tree, praying for the smooth construction of Taiwan’s power infrastructure. Over the years, it has grown strong and bursts into beautiful yellow and white flowers every April, becoming a popular check-in spot. Not only do many netizens visit as a pilgrimage, but wedding photographers also come here to shoot, making it a hidden floral sanctuary in the city.

The fishpod tree was originally planted inside the office fence. To allow visitors to fully enjoy its blooms, Taipower created an open space by removing the fence, relocating power equipment, and setting up open-air benches, while also giving the roots more room to grow naturally. Due to its rare variety, the Taipei City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau has listed it as a "protected tree."
