In the fields of Yuli Township, Hualien, a giant cute black bear lies in the rice paddy, wearing a backpack as if heading to school—a truly heartwarming sight. In 2017, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the name “Yuli,” a approximately 1.4-hectare painted rice field was created under the Xingnong Bridge next to the Hongqiao Bridge in Yuli, painting a lovely “Yuli Black Bear Painted Rice Field” onto the rural landscape.

After the rice harvest, the field was replanted in February this year. With the imagery of a black bear going to school, the rice crop was used to create the Yuli Black Bear Painted Rice Field on the land. Its adorable appearance has won the hearts of many visitors, attracting numerous tourists to come and take photos.

The viewing period for the Yuli Black Bear Painted Rice Field is only about five months, lasting until the end of August. Visitors who wish to admire and take photos should plan accordingly. Additionally, those who want to take in the full view of the painted rice field and the town of Yuli can stand on the Xingnong Bridge to enjoy the beauty of the green fields and the endless blue sky, often catching a glimpse of trains passing by.
