Taipei's new container market attraction offers stunning riverside views

In recent years, container markets have popped up across Taiwan. Following the closure of COMMUNE A7 in Xinyi District, Taipei launched a new container market, "PIER5 Riverside Special Zone," at Dadaocheng Wharf starting in April.

Featuring six container units and three food trucks, the wharf has been transformed into a small gourmet hub. Visitors can enjoy the river breeze and sunset, or head to the specially designed rooftop of the containers for panoramic water views.

Although relatively small in scale, PIER5 Riverside Special Zone is home to uniquely themed restaurants offering alcoholic beverages, pizza, fresh fruit teas, and other light meals. These include men’s uno cafe Mirror Tea, over 30 varieties of Neapolitan and New York-style wood-fired handmade pizzas, I Love Bow — the top-rated egg waffle shop in northern Taiwan, a famous Thai tom yum noodle shop from Chiang Mai, and Ranran whiskey sparkling drinks.
