The 2018 New Taipei City Cherry Blossom Season — Hope River Left Bank Cherry Blossom Event in Tucheng was held in March at Hope River Square. In addition to exciting performances such as band singing and diabolo juggling, the event also featured highly popular cherry blossom painting activities, as well as well-received guided tours, making it a great destination for visitors to enjoy the blossoms with family and friends.

Currently, about 80% of the cherry blossoms have bloomed. The Cherry Blossom Season event, originally scheduled for March 31, was moved up to March 24 due to the early bloom. This year, lighting has been added, allowing visitors to stroll under the romantic yellow glow and look up to see the dazzling pink blossoms blooming vibrantly like bubbles. Unlike their shy daytime appearance, the night cherry blossoms take on a diverse and enchanting charm under the illuminated night sky, making it a must-visit dating and sightseeing spot in spring.

The Left Bank of Hope River in Tucheng is close to Haishan Metro Station. It takes only about three minutes to walk from Exit 3 of the metro, making it one of the few urban cherry blossom viewing spots accessible by metro. The cherry blossom trees along the riverbank were planted six years ago and, thanks to the care of local neighborhood chief Hsu Chuntao and volunteers, have become a beautiful cherry blossom attraction.

During the annual cherry blossom season, the blossoms bloom continuously, forming a vast pink sea that’s densely packed and breathtakingly beautiful. With its spectacular scenery and convenient transportation, the area attracts many visitors every year. Beyond the cherry blossoms, the banks of Hope River are lush with greenery, meticulously maintained by local volunteers. Bougainvillea on the trellises grows wildly and blooms vibrantly, creating a green tunnel for passersby.

Upon exiting the tunnel, the fragrance of pomelo flowers greets visitors, adding even more romance to the riverside.
