A Colorful Floral Mosaic: Red Iron Bridge Becomes a New Spring Flower-Viewing Hotspot

The Xiluo Township Office in Yunlin County has created a spectacular 10-hectare flower sea on the east side of the Xiluo Bridge. Originally expected to bloom during the Lunar New Year, the flowers only recently came into full bloom due to weather conditions. The colorful cosmos flowers and the red Xiluo Bridge complement each other, creating one of the most beautiful spring flower-viewing landscapes.

The cosmos flower sea was originally expected to bloom during the Lunar New Year, but a cold front before the holiday delayed their blossoming until the Lantern Festival. Recently, with clear weather, the cosmos have begun to bloom abundantly. The flowering period is expected to last until mid-April, after which the area will be planned as a permanent park green space.

The Xiluo Bridge spans Xiluo in Yunlin and Xizhou in Changhua, with a total length of 1,939.03 meters and a width of 7.32 meters. At the time, it was hailed as the longest bridge in the Far East and the second longest in the world, only behind the Golden Gate Bridge in the United States. In addition, the Xiluo Bridge was once the only bridge in Taiwan to appear on currency—it was featured on the back of the NT$10 bill issued in 1960 (the 49th year of the Republic of China).

The Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage, which begins on April 13, will also pass through this area. Visitors may want to plan a flower-viewing trip to Yunlin during the Qingming holiday or when the Mazu procession takes place.
