It's not just Matsu anymore — blue tears spotted along the coast of Qigu, Tainan!

The breathtaking natural wonder known as "blue tears," which can also be seen in Matsu, has recently been spotted along the Qigu coastline in Tainan. After large-scale blue tears were captured in 2016, they did not appear in 2017, but a year later, another wave of blue tears lit up the Qigu shores. On March 4th, the honorary chairman of the Tainan Astronomical Association captured clear images of the blue tears, showing the fluorescent blue glow on the sea surface — a truly dreamlike sight.

The blue tears appeared along the Qigu coast from the evening of March 3 to the early hours of March 4. The return of this seasonal spectacle after a year's absence surprised everyone present. Typically occurring during the summer months between July and September, the early appearance this time is likely due to the recent rise in temperatures, making the display even more beautiful than in 2016.

Travelers hoping to see the blue tears should head to the area around Guosheng Lighthouse, which has almost no light pollution, making it an ideal spot for both stargazing and catching the blue tears. However, with temperatures expected to drop in the coming days, sightings may temporarily cease. When temperatures warm up again, there may be another chance to witness their return.
