Firecrackers are set off and lion dances are performed in front of Ruins of St. Paul's as Macau vibrantly welcomes the Year of the Tiger

This year, the Macao Government Tourism Office has specially planned a series of celebratory events to welcome the Year of the Tiger. On February 14 and 15 (the first and second days of the Lunar New Year), a spectacular dragon and lion dance parade will depart from the Ruins of St. Paul's, passing through Senado Square, A-Ma Temple, Macao Fisherman’s Wharf, Taipa Houses–Museum, and Coloane’s Lord Stow’s Village.

At 23:00 on New Year’s Eve, February 13, a fireworks display will be held over the waters near the Macau Tower, kicking off the Lunar New Year with a breathtaking sky show. The 238-meter-long golden dragon and 18 awakening lions parading on the first day of the Lunar New Year are considered an auspicious start to the year’s blessings—don’t miss this amazing event. The Tourism Office will also deploy the twelve zodiac animals, the Three Stars of Blessing (Fu Lu Shou), and the God of Wealth to various attractions to wish visitors a happy new year and hand out lai see (red envelopes), offering a chance to boost your luck and bring good fortune.

The Lantern Festival on the fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year marks another highlight of the festive season. This year coincides with Valentine’s Day, and strolling through Macau feels like walking through a European city, with charming foreign vibes everywhere. Macau’s streets and alleys also have many adorable names, adding to the romantic ambiance—for example, “Lover’s Lane” next to the Ruins of St. Paul's and “Lovers’ Street” in Coloane are must-visit romantic spots for couples.
