Delicious In-flight Meals for the Lunar New Year: China Airlines Presents Reunion Dishes

When traveling by plane, besides spacious and comfortable seats, the meals served onboard are also one of the most anticipated services for passengers during the flight. This year, to celebrate the Lunar New Year, China Airlines will serve sumptuous reunion dishes on February 13 and 14 (New Year’s Eve) after 12:00 noon, as well as on the first day of the New Year — giving travelers a unique high-altitude reunion dining experience.

The “New Year’s Dishes” in-flight meals introduced by China Airlines during the Spring Festival period will be available on all Taipei-originating full-service flights (except for the Ryukyu and Phuket routes). First Class passengers can enjoy the Prosperity Flower Platter and Clay Pot Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, with main courses including “Prosperity Tiger Duo” made with prawns and salmon belly, as well as “Fortune Qilin Chicken” featuring chicken and mushroom vegetable medley. Business Class’s “Celebrating a Bumper New Year” includes Jiangnan-style Drunken Shrimp in Shaoxing Wine and Plum Vinegar Tomatoes, Northern Chinese-style Cold Jellyfish Head in Scallion Oil, creative Chicken Rolls steamed with preserved plums, and Red Date New Year Cake. Economy Class’s “Prosperity Long-lasting Rice” features tender braised pork belly cooked in aged sauce, paired with Taiwanese sausages, greens, and yellow radish.

The festive menu also features specially crafted desserts. China Airlines’ culinary team has created osmanthus jelly shaped like ingots, using osmanthus honey, osmanthus syrup, and goji berries boiled down and set into the shape of silver ingots. These are served alongside sweet potato mash formed into golden ingots, candied kumquats symbolizing gold coins, sugar-soaked lotus seeds, red bean New Year cake, and red wine tofu pudding — a delicious, nourishing, and auspicious modern-style dessert.

To meet the demand of Taiwanese businesspeople returning home during the Lunar New Year holiday, China Airlines has arranged multiple additional direct flights between Taipei, Kaohsiung and major mainland cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Nanjing, Ningbo, and Hangzhou.
