Osaka Mint Bureau:: The Top Cherry Blossom Path in Kansai:: Cherry Blossom Viewing

The most famous natural beauty spot in Osaka is the Mint Bureau’s Cherry Blossom Path, which opens to the public for a limited time every spring.

Located on the right bank of the old Yodo River in Tennouji, the Mint Bureau has been Japan’s coin minting facility since 1871 (Meiji 4). Every mid-to-late April, the throngs of visitors aren’t here for the Mint Bureau Museum, but for the spectacular cherry blossom spectacle along the nearly 600-meter-long “Cherry Blossom Path” (Sakura no Tsunagare) that surrounds the museum. Stretching 560 meters from the south gate to the north gate, Kansai’s premier cherry blossom path is open for one week each year when the blossoms are in full bloom.
