Delicious Thai Week: Enjoy performances, indulge in Thai cuisine, and enter to win a round-trip flight to Thailand

As early spring gradually arrives and the warmer weather stimulates your appetite, there's no better time to savor the aromatic, sour, sweet, and spicy flavors of Thai food. Starting March 20th, a fantastic Thai Week event will take place in Taipei for nine consecutive days, offering a rich and exciting program that includes performances full of Thai culture and art, screenings of Thai cultural films, as well as a food and merchandise fair. Participants also have the chance to win great prizes, including round-trip air tickets to Thailand.

Co-organized by the Thai Trade and Economic Office, Taipei City Government Department of Cultural Affairs, National Father’s Memorial Hall, and Taiwan Legal Reform Association, “2010 Thai Week” will run from March 20th to 28th, featuring exciting activities every day. On March 20th and 21st, the event kicks off at the National Center for Traditional Arts in Yilan with performances by Thailand’s national-level art troupes, showcasing traditional Thai dance and Thai mask dance. On March 22nd, the event moves to Taipei’s Family Theater (free admission tickets available). From March 23rd to 26th, a variety of Thai-themed activities will be held, such as screenings of Thai cultural films, investment seminars on Thailand, and exhibitions of regional Thai cuisine.

The Thai traditional art performance troupe is organized by Thailand’s National Office of Arts, the country’s only national-level performing arts group. Since its establishment in 1911, the National Office of Arts has continuously developed and promoted traditional Thai art. Each performer undergoes rigorous training from a young age, educated at national arts academies and trained in traditional Thai music, becoming elite performers of Thai traditional arts. The performances during Thai Week will last approximately one and a half hours, featuring renowned traditional Thai music, traditional dances, Thai mask dance, and even Thai self-defense demonstrations—promising an exciting and captivating experience.

For those eager to try authentic Thai cuisine, don’t miss the Thai Food and Fair at the plaza in front of the National Father’s Memorial Hall on March 27th and 28th. The event will gather famous Thai restaurants in Taiwan, offering Taiwanese food lovers the chance to taste genuine Thai dishes. At the fair, you’ll also find a wide range of handicrafts from the Handicraft Center run by members of the Thai royal family. Attendees of the Thai Food and Fair have the chance to win two round-trip air tickets to Thailand provided by Thai Airways, as well as discount vouchers from Thai Xuan International Catering Group.
