Andersen Bakery
Established in Hiroshima in 1967, Andersen Bakery is a renowned high-end bakery in Japan. Its name is derived from the English name of the fairy tale master, Hans Christian Andersen—“Andersen”—as all the bread and pastries it offers emphasize a “British-style” flair.
Since its opening, Andersen Bakery has evolved from being just a small, simple bakery into a multi-brand complex themed around “the Bakery and more~Everything about bread.” This includes various brands such as bakeries and cafés, with as many as 79 branches across Japan.
The Hiroshima headquarters embodies the owner’s concept. On the first floor, in addition to selling bread, there are also salads, side dishes, cheeses, wines, and floral arrangements to pair with the bread. The second floor features a buffet with a variety of food bars including Italian, Chinese, and light meal sandwiches. Best of all, bread is unlimited and complimentary with any meal.
