Pink fluffy monsters go viral: Dreamy "two-tone chiffon cakes" feature random daily color clashes

Remember those swimming ring-themed specialty shops that went viral that summer? Cute swimming rings, flamingos, and ice cream became the most colorful summer memories. Located in downtown Tainan, Machinoto Design has now launched a new product—the "fluffy monster chiffon cake."

The original vanilla chiffon cakes are each made with a combination of two pastel macaron colors, so pretty you won’t want to eat them. The color combinations depend entirely on the owner’s mood each day, making every cake a unique emotional hue.

The two-tone chiffon cakes are inspired by fondant and icing art, extending the design concept to regular cakes. The goal is to bring aesthetically pleasing cakes into everyday life. The owner said she prefers pastel tones, so she selects soft shades and adjusts them based on Pantone’s annual color trends and her personal taste—each color has its own little story.

Cake colors are named after traditional Japanese hues. The shop’s most popular cake is the "fluffy monster" design, combining light blue (みずいろ) and crimson camellia (べにかけはないろ). Since they’re handmade, about 30–40 are made per day, so advance reservations are necessary to get one.
