When it comes to Mallorca, many people don’t know it’s a Spanish island, but if you mention “Camper,” there aren’t many who don’t know this footwear brand. This famous shoe brand, which rose to prominence in 1928, originates from the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, known for its crystal-clear waters, emerald-green peaks, and unique limestone landscapes.

In the book *A Summer Farmhouse*, written by author Peter Kerr based on his family’s life on Mallorca, he describes the beauty of an isolated mountain village and the delightful moments of daily life, making it quite an appealing read. These new members are three donkeys, tasked with accompanying guests along newly opened nature trails on the hillsides. Donkeys play a very important role in Mallorca; locals often use mules to transport goods from villages up into the mountains. British poet and writer Robert Graves made his home in the village of Deià in 1929, and at that time, he would regularly take a donkey named Isabella into the village. To this day, donkeys can still be seen in many mountain areas. La Residencia has adopted three of them: Pancho, Alba, and Lluna, integrating them into the herd of sheep and goats that live at the hotel, and assigning them the task of guiding guests along the hillsides and transporting picnic food in panniers.

La Residencia is a traditional Mallorcan country estate that blends leisurely elegance with romantic charm. The hotel has 67 rooms overlooking the charming mountain village of Deià, which has been home to many painters and writers, including British writer Robert Graves, who lived here for 45 years. In addition to taking good care of the animals and providing them with housing, La Residencia also maintains the local natural landscape by implementing various measures to preserve the original beauty of the surroundings.
