Free Overseas Training Program: Tourism Bureau Subsidizes 100 Elite Plans

Working holiday study is a way for modern youth and recent graduates to self-improve through travel. This year, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ Tourism Bureau has specially organized the “2010 Tourism Elite Selection and Overseas Training Program” selection event, enabling 100 tourism industry professionals to study abroad for free. They will receive professional training at Disney Institute in the United States and Le Cordon Bleu Australia (Melbourne campus), without the need for strenuous part-time work to gain hands-on experience in specialized courses.

The “2010 Tourism Elite Selection and Overseas Training Program” has specially planned a group trip to the world-renowned Walt Disney World in Orlando, USA. The four theme parks within this resort alone rank among the top five theme parks in the United States, attracting nearly 50 million visitors annually. For this program, Disney has collaborated with the government for the first time and opened registration to international industry peers, while also offering the Tourism Bureau more favorable group training rates. The training content includes not only classroom sessions but also on-site visits to Epcot Center, Animal Kingdom, and MGM Studios Theme Park, which will surely broaden the horizons of the participating tourism elites.

For operators of hotels, tourist hotels, homestays, and integrated leisure resorts, the Tourism Bureau has planned a second overseas visit group to the Le Cordon Bleu Australia campus in Adelaide, southern Australia. In addition to international hotel and restaurant management courses, the program also arranges on-site visits to various distinctive accommodations, including Hahndorf German Village in Adelaide, Barossa boutique homestays, Tangalooma Resort in Brisbane, and the Versace Palace, all of which are models of international tourism lodging.

The courses in the United States and Australia are each 14-day professional training programs. Interested tourism industry professionals can not only apply for the Tourism Bureau’s free overseas training selection but can also independently plan their own overseas training courses based on personal needs. The application deadline is from now until 5:00 PM on April 26 (postmarked by this date; late submissions will not be accepted).
