More spectacular than the 101 New Year's Eve countdown—the island’s tallest “Ferris wheel light show” paired with an 180-second fireworks display

As 2017 approaches and New Year’s Eve draws near, this year’s “Colorful Youth Taichung” countdown event will be held at the second parking lot of Lihpao Land. In addition to performances by legendary group 5566 to bring in the new year and rock band 911 energizing the crowd, Taiwan’s largest Ferris wheel, “Sky Dream,” will put on a dazzling nighttime light show. With a total height of 120 meters, an altitude of 245 meters, and an overall elevation of 365 meters—comparable to Taipei 101—the spectacle is sure to be magnificent.

To celebrate the 2018 Taichung World Flora Exposition, the team centered the Ferris wheel light show around the theme of “flowers.” The giant Ferris wheel transforms into the most radiant bloom in the night sky, with its colorful lights displaying various floral patterns such as fresh daisies, warm sunflowers, and charming roses—all accompanied by a stunning 180-second fireworks show that will keep the audience spellbound.

To accommodate the countdown event, traffic control will begin at 3 PM on December 31 on the road leading from National Freeway No. 1 to the Yuehmei Connector. Starting at 4 PM, Lihpao Resort will offer free parking throughout the park, with the amusement park closing at 8 PM and the OUTLET extending its hours until 1 AM. Visitors can shop at the OUTLET and enjoy the amusement park during the day, then join the countdown celebration at night. Additionally, free shuttle buses will be available between the resort and Houli Railway Station as well as Guoguang ChaoMa Station.
