2010 World Gourmet Summit: Lunch with Star Chefs

The world-class wine and gourmet extravaganza “2010 World Gourmet Summit” is putting on a feast for all the senses in Singapore right now. This year’s event runs until April 25, and over the course of two weeks, star chefs from around the world will showcase their talents. Not only can you enjoy their culinary creations, but you can also watch them cook live, and learn about current food trends and concepts from around the globe.

Organized by the Singapore Tourism Board and entering its 14th year, the “Singapore World Gourmet Summit” this year takes “Constellation of Stars” as its theme, bringing together star chefs, premium wines, renowned restaurants, and signature dishes to offer the public a star-level gourmet experience. This year’s world-class wine and gourmet event invites over 11 internationally acclaimed chefs, including the highly respected master chef Ferran Adria, 23 partner restaurants, and 6 special event restaurants.

The Singapore World Gourmet Summit is a great opportunity to get up close with star chefs. This year, Michelin-starred chefs such as Alex Chow, Andrea Berton, Michel Rostang, and Greg Doyle & Grant King—who have been awarded three hats by Australian newspapers—will lead 31 world-renowned chefs in showcasing their skills. Interested individuals can sign up in advance for the “Chefs Table Luncheon” or “Kitchen Party” to dine with the chefs, explore culinary arts, enjoy performances, and spark new creative ideas in cuisine.

The “Grandeur of Wine” is another highlight of the event. Over ten days, three star wineries—Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier, Egon Muller Scharzhof, and Sassicaia—will serve fine wines, not only a luxurious treat much anticipated by foodies, but the “Wine Experience,” which showcases over 350 brands of alcoholic beverages, and sharing sessions by wine experts are also rare experiences. In addition, there is the “Chocolate Dinner,” the first event themed around chocolate, inviting internationally renowned pastry chefs and chocolate experts to present delightful desserts with the rich sweetness of chocolate.

Other special events this year include the “Gourmet Golf Experience” that combines food and leisure, the romantic dinner “Celebrity Dinners” where you can dine with idols, and the “Culinary Masterclasses” where world-class chefs share cooking secrets.
