Modern hotels are no longer just places for travelers to rest. By incorporating different thematic styles or local characteristics, they become attractions in their own right, drawing visitors eager to stay. ETtoday EBC News has compiled a list of 3 uniquely "bibliophilic" library hotels across Taiwan. Not only can you browse through thousands of books to your heart’s content, but you can also enjoy hot springs or watch the sunrise. As a book lover, you simply must stay at one of these spots at least once.

1. Eslite Hotel
Dubbed "Taiwan’s first arts-themed hotel," Eslite Hotel neighbors the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. Its most distinctive feature is the grand book wall in the lobby, home to approximately 5,000 volumes. These books are the final copies retained from bestsellers at Eslite Bookstore, covering categories such as art, architecture, music, dance, theater, photography, film, aesthetics, literature, and even lifestyle and humanities. Book lovers can pick a title, sit on a comfy sofa, enjoy the sunlight streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows, and lose themselves in the world of books with soothing music playing in the background.

In addition to the lobby book wall, the rooms also resemble small libraries. The humanities suites contain between 114 and over 1,072 books, ensuring that every room is filled with the aroma of literature. Some even include carefully selected classic titles, giving guests their own personal book wall during their stay.

2. Earth Hotel
Another hotel famous for its expansive book walls is Earth Hotel in Beitou. Its 4-story-high, British-style “Timeless Library” book wall curves around the lobby in an “ㄇ” shape. The ceiling is fitted with glass windows, allowing natural light to filter down from above. As the light shifts, it creates a mesmerizing visual effect of flowing shadows across the bookshelves.

The Timeless Library holds around 3,000 books and includes seating in the middle where guests can sit and read, or borrow books to enjoy later in their rooms. After immersing yourself in the literary atmosphere, you can head to the public hot spring baths for a truly unique soak in Beitou.

3. YUECHUAN Hotel
YUECHUAN Hotel, which officially opened on Christmas Eve in Yilan City, is the first accommodation in Yilan with a "library hotel" concept. In the hotel’s Gothic Café in the lobby, there's a 2-story-high book wall. The hotel also features a transparent skywalk, allowing guests to stroll back and forth while admiring the collection.

Aside from the 2-story book wall in the lobby, each guest floor starting from the 5th is equipped with themed book collections—ranging from children’s picture books to lifestyle and humanities titles. Each room is named after a famous writer or literary figure, such as Hemingway or Hugo, and features iconic works by that author. On the 7th and 8th floors, the family-friendly floors, you’ll find classics like The Little Prince and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, ensuring fun and literary immersion for guests of all ages.
