2010 Singapore Arts Festival: Lin Hwai-min and Cai Guo-qiang showcase "Wind 'Shadow"

For travelers who love performing arts, the spectacular Singapore Arts Festival is an unmissable event. Especially as the festival brings together artistic troupes from around the world and a variety of performance forms, it has become a global focal point. The “2010 Singapore Arts Festival” will take place from May 14 to June 13 at the Esplanade and Victoria Theatre. This year’s theme, “Between You and Me,” emphasizes the transcendent connection between the audience and the performing arts. It invites artists from 20 countries to present over 30 captivating stage plays and other artistic performances.
The opening ceremony on May 14 will kick off with the fireworks installation art “Opening the Door of Dreams, Lighting the Fire of the Fields.” Highlights include “Sound Night” DJ-ed by British contemporary music genius Nitin Sawhney, a musical performance by the Orchestra of the Royal College of Art (St. Martin's) in collaboration with conductor and violin soloist Jascha Nemtsov, a German art short play by director Hebbel am Ufer, and the stage production "Wind 'Shadow" by masters Lin Hwai-min and Cai Guo-qiang that blends dance and visual pyrotechnic art. On the closing day, there will also be a “Mass Dance Event,” allowing visitors to fully experience the thrill of moving in sync with the music.
