Head to Hualien for the 2010 International Triathlon Elite Race

The "2010 hahahe International Triathlon Elite Race" is the only event in Taiwan held entirely on a closed-loop course around a lake. This year, a total of 1,125 athletes have registered, including 83 international participants from 16 countries who have come to Hualien to compete. These countries include Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, Germany, Australia, Canada, France, South Korea, the United States, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, South Africa, and Ireland. The triathlon route will take place along Provincial Highway 9 to Provincial Highway 9B (from Liyu Lake to Guangrong Community), starting from the northern dock of Liyu Lake. The race consists of a 1.5 km swim, a 45 km bike ride, and a 10 km run, covering a total distance of 56.5 km.

Now in its 10th year, the International Triathlon Elite Race offers a total prize purse of NT$450,000, the highest in its history. In addition to internationally renowned top athletes, the competition also features domestic champions such as Yang Maoyong in the men’s division, Wang Yiwen in the women’s division, as well as political figures and athletes like Wu Poh-hsiung, Su Chun-pin, Yeh Chin-chuan, and members of the Olympic training team.
