The 2010 Taipei Children's Arts Festival creates a colorful "Garden of Joy for Kids"
The Taipei Children's Arts Festival is the most anticipated event for children every summer. This year’s theme, “Garden of Joy for Kids,” runs from July 8 to August 7. Through a variety of nature-related art activities, it conveys ecological knowledge, helping children rediscover their urban environment. In conjunction with the “2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition,” it also creates a vibrant artistic garden.

In previous years, the festival collaborated with performing arts groups from different countries. This year, it co-produces the show "Thumbelina Heroes" with Italy’s Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio. For the first time, all theater seats are replaced with beds, allowing children to lie down and enjoy a “bedtime story.” Spanish puppet and dance troupes will also present "The Little Penguin Who Wanted to Fly" and "Little Paradise," crafting a magical dream world for kids.
This year’s festival features: six ticketed performances, four free large-scale outdoor shows, 83 community performances across 11 districts, and a 132-show animation film festival with seven titles. There are also two workshops that can accommodate 280 children each. The program includes a wide range of content such as folk performance troupes, rock concerts, shadow puppetry, hand puppetry, and glove puppetry, offering parents and children a unique visual feast in the hot summer.
