Japanese artist Susumu Shingu presents his kinetic/land art exhibition

Susumu Shingu presents three kinetic sculptures: "Constellation on Water," "Wings of Time," and "Snow Flower." Using invisible wind as a medium, these works connect the rhythms of nature and the human spirit. This marks Shingu’s first temporary land art project in Taiwan, launching here before touring Japan as part of the broader exhibition series.

Shingu’s works sway and breathe with the light brought by the wind amid rice paddies, growing alongside seasonal changes until the harvest returns nourishment to the earth. Through his kinetic sculptures, the artist subtly conveys an ideal of harmony between humans and nature, while also offering warm, humanistic reflections on our living environment. The works emphasize the connection between wind and water, using their movement to reveal the power of nature. Most remarkably, his installations are in constant flux—Shingu stresses that the external forms are not the focus; what matters most is how natural forces animate the pieces into ever-changing dances.

Works by Japanese artist Susumu Shingu are displayed worldwide, with acclaimed kinetic sculptures in Japan, South Korea, the U.S., France, Italy, and more. Taiwan currently hosts two permanent public art installations: "Birth of a Rainbow" at the Nangang Software Park and "Silent Dialogue" at National Tsing Hua University. His art employs concise visual language to evoke tranquility, elegance, and warmth, guiding viewers to notice subtle elements in their surroundings through slow, deliberate motion, thereby bridging the gap between people and nature. Through his artistic expression, the light carried on the wind is not just the artist’s personal journey and deep care for the Earth, but also a gentle reminder to cherish and protect the nature around us.
