Fun on the Farm: Agricultural Parent-Child One-Day Experience Camp Kicks Off

Organic farming and slow living are all the rage. To experience the leisurely charm of rural life and the joyful farm experiences shared by farmers, this summer vacation, the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, in collaboration with its affiliated agencies, has specially planned and organized the “Agricultural Parent-Child Experience Activities.” The program offers a rich and diverse range of activities, including parent-child mountain-cleaning events, specialty handmade DIY workshops, and experiences of fishing village culture. Across Taiwan, a total of 35 agricultural organizations are offering 49 different types of programs, comprising 109 sessions with over 6,000 available slots, inviting the public to step into the world of agriculture.

Agricultural One-Day Parent-Child Experience Camp Activities Kick Off

Summer vacation is the peak season for family travel, and many organizations have launched parent-child experience camps. The Council of Agriculture has also partnered with agricultural entities to organize various agricultural DIY experience activities, allowing families to explore agricultural culture together. The diverse range of experiences spans from north to south, covering forestry, fisheries, agriculture, biodiversity conservation, tea improvement, and more—totaling 109 one-day agricultural experience sessions. These sessions feature a variety of interesting agricultural themes, providing families with opportunities to enjoy parent-child time while engaging in agricultural activities.

The content of each session in the one-day agricultural experience activities is highly diverse, including internationally popular parent-child orienteering, high-mountain eco-tours, community ecological and cultural tours, sea survival experiences, wetland guided tours, aquatic life experiences, educational trips to ecological parks, livestock product processing, herbs and plants, aquatic plants, organic farming, flower and vegetable planting, silkworm and bee insect ecology, parent-child rice planting, tea-making experiences, seed mosaic art, plant leaf printing, herbal mosquito repellent making, essential oil DIY, and more. Aside from the “Hehuan Mountain Parent-Child Summer Mountain-Cleaning Activity,” which is free, and the “Daxue Mountain Parent-Child Orienteering Activity,” where participants cover their own admission fees, other activities range from NT$120 to NT$250.

The “Agricultural Parent-Child Experience Activities” are now open for online registration until all slots are filled. For detailed information on each parent-child experience, you can visit the COA’s Migratory Bird Agricultural Network to browse and register. Each adult aged 18 or above may bring up to two children, and individuals are generally limited to registering for two “Agricultural One-Day Experience Activities” sessions.
