Where music meets art: the 2010 UrbanCore Summer Art Party

Old neighborhoods often give off an unwelcoming and detached vibe, but with the clever design of cultural and artistic groups, idle spaces can be transformed into havens of art. The UrbanCore Urban Art District is an experimental project initiated by the Jut Foundation for Arts and Architecture. After several months of renovation, it has been reborn with a fresh look and shone brightly at the ‘Westside Love Art Summer – 2010 UrbanCore Open Day & Summer Art Party’ !
The UrbanCore Urban Art District is located at the intersection of Section 1, Zhonghua Road, Taipei City, near AiGuo West Road. Since March 2010, numerous cultural and artistic groups have moved in one after another. Through the fermentation of artistic creation and the stimulation of design energy, the old neighborhood has been infused with an artistic atmosphere.
The foundation’s summer event this year, the ‘Westside Love Art Summer – 2010 UrbanCore Open Day & Summer Art Party’, brought together various cultural and artistic groups in the district to mobilize collectively. In the form of an art party, it featured musical performances, exhibitions, and open studio visits.
From August 14 to August 29, the “Air City Form” installation art experience exhibition and the “Wrinkles of the Face” wedding photo exhibition were held at UrbanCore Gallery and UrbanCore Café & Bookshelf respectively. Meanwhile, the Summer Art Party on August 21 (Saturday), from 15:00 to 21:00, welcomed the public to witness the new life of the revitalized old neighborhood.
