The intense heat of summer is too much even for crops, leading to reduced yields. The higher the temperature, the more problems arise in food supply. For every 2°C increase in Taiwan’s temperature, rice production may decrease by 13–14%. In addition, high temperatures affect the breeding of sows and reduce the milk yield of dairy cows, which is why we often hear about shortages of fresh milk in the summer. The aquaculture industry also faces increased disease and mortality rates due to temperature fluctuations. Everyone can contribute to a better Earth and support agriculture by conserving resources — whether it's saving water and electricity or refusing plastic bags while shopping.
