With a gentle breeze in the air, embark on a “Autumn Silvergrass Hike” on Yangmingshan
Autumn is the season when silvergrass blooms. Regular visitors to Yangmingshan will surely have noticed that the silvergrass in Yangmingshan National Park is swaying gracefully, gradually drawing crowds of admirers. What could be more relaxing than taking an “Autumn Silvergrass Hike” during this cool season? On October 9, 16, 23, and 30, guides will lead visitors to explore the “Fishermen’s Trail” and the “Qingtiangang Grassland,” immersing them in the autumn charm of Grass Mountain.
The Fishermen’s Trail was a vital route between Shimen and Jinshan during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period.
The “Fishermen’s Trail” was an important path used by early settlers traveling between Jinshan and Shilin during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period. Lined with silvergrass, ferns, and tree ferns along the way, remnants of the past constantly remind us of the hardships our ancestors endured in cultivating the land and establishing transportation. It is now, together with the “Qingtiangang Grassland,” one of the best spots to admire silvergrass blooms. The cultural ambiance and historical stories of the trail are celebrated by many.
Qingtiangang Grassland is a rare scenic gem in the Taipei area.
Nature enthusiasts can join guided tours to learn about the relationship between silvergrass and the lives of early settlers, as well as its role in the ecosystem, thereby fostering a commitment to protecting this precious natural environment in Taipei.
The “Autumn Silvergrass Hike” event consists of four sessions, with a registration fee of NT$500 per person (including lunch, insurance, lecturer fees, and transportation costs). Children under junior high school age must be accompanied by a parent.
