Luxury hotels begin construction in the Swiss Alps
The small town of Andermatt is located at the junction of southern, northern, and eastern Switzerland. It is an all-year-round resort blessed with breathtaking natural scenery and a wealth of outdoor recreational activities, making it a favorite among many tourists. Now, GHM, an Asian luxury hotel and resort operator, is planning its latest development project in the Swiss Alps—The Chedi Andermatt.
The nearby Gemsstock mountain peak, situated at an altitude of nearly 3,000 meters, is a paradise for skiing enthusiasts in winter. The ski area in Andermatt connects to the adjacent Sedrun ski area. In summer, it is ideal for hiking, mountaineering, and mountain biking. Other activities include horseback riding, fishing, tennis, and paragliding. The surrounding area features over ten golf courses, including a new eco-friendly 18-hole championship course adjacent to the village.
Andermatt is about a four-hour drive from Stuttgart or Munich in Germany, and around two hours and ninety minutes from Milan and Zurich, respectively.
The resort The Chedi Andermatt is expected to be completed and open in 2013. It will include 50 hotel rooms, 64 apartment units, and 6 duplex penthouse units. The resort not only provides access to expansive ski areas but also features a large indoor pool connected to an outdoor pool and sunbathing area, a courtyard with a mirror pool that transforms into an ice-skating rink in winter, a ski center where guests can purchase or rent ski equipment, and a boutique shop.
