UNIQLO occupies approximately 440 ping (about 1,450 square meters), but it still seems hard to satisfy the long queues. Many people skipped work or school just for UNIQLO. The person who queued first on the opening day was a National Taiwan University student, who arrived at the site at midnight the night before to grab Japan’s best-selling affordable jeans, wool sweaters, and down jackets. After the store opened at 10:30 a.m., the first 600 consumers were allowed in, with dozens more admitted each time based on crowd flow.

In addition, many people came for the limited edition 30,000 UNIQLO eco-bags, which are available with purchases over NT$1,500. During the opening period, special discount items at UNIQLO Taipei included designated jeans (NT$499), hooded jackets (men NT$599/women NT$499), and cashmere sweaters (men NT$1,990/women NT$1,490).
