Taiwanese people are placing increasing emphasis on health and nutrition, and their standards for local ingredients have become more discerning. This autumn, Taipei Fullerton Hotel has specially imported rare purple wheat from Europe, blending it with three health-promoting ingredients: longan, macadamia nuts, and cranberries, to create three exceptionally precious and unique purple wheat whole grain breads.
Purple wheat is a rare and valuable grain variety that has gained popularity in Europe in recent years. It once disappeared from the Earth for a long time before Austrian scientists rediscovered its seeds and successfully cultivated it. Purple wheat is characterized by its low sugar and calorie content, and it also contains anthocyanins, which are lacking in other types of wheat, making it an exceptionally precious ingredient. European purple wheat has 10 times more "anthocyanins" than other grains, making it one of the highest-quality grains for antioxidant benefits and anti-aging.
The purple wheat whole grain bread launched by Fullerton this time uses only 24-hour fermented sourdough as the leavening base, giving the purple wheat bread a firmer and chewier texture. Additionally, based on the dietary habits of Taiwanese people, the hotel conducted multiple ingredient tests before deciding to incorporate three different health-promoting flavors—longan, macadamia nuts, and cranberries—to create a refreshing taste that is more easily accepted by locals.
Ordinary whole grain breads often give off a bland impression, but the three purple wheat whole grain breads introduced by Taipei Fullerton this time successfully blend the mildly tangy and refreshing taste of purple wheat with the rich layers of the other three ingredients, adding a satisfying flavor experience to health-conscious eating.
