Dining with a view on Taiwan’s only overpass restaurant — a new hotspot

The area around Kaohsiung’s Sizihwan MRT Station is a popular tourist hub, featuring attractions such as Pier-2 Art Center, Hamasen Railway Cultural Park, and the Kaohsiung Music Center. Now, there’s a new sightseeing restaurant — “Red Bridge Restaurant.” This eatery is Taiwan’s one-of-a-kind bridge-top restaurant, built atop a red overpass. Diners can enjoy breathtaking views through large floor-to-ceiling windows, making it a must-visit photo spot in the Kaohsiung Harbor area.

The restaurant is situated on an overpass in Kaohsiung Park. The overpass, which has been around for over 40 years, faced demolition after the railway ceased operations. To preserve this historic structure, the city government built a white building on the overpass and entrusted it to a local Kaohsiung brand, giving the old structure a fresh new look.

The restaurant specializes in fusion cuisine, blending European dishes with local ingredients. The menu changes seasonally, allowing diners to enjoy delicious food while soaking in the historical charm of Kaohsiung. In addition, Sizihwan also features a new cultural and creative base, “Stack 2,” which has transformed an old warehouse into a multifunctional space that combines culture, exhibitions, and dining.
