A new hidden gem: an 1.8 km hiking trail with suspension bridges and stunning waterfall views

Yilan welcomes a new hidden gem — a 1.8 km natural trail located within the Jiuliaoxi Ecological Park. Winding through lush forests, this trail offers rich natural biodiversity, including verdant trees and waterfall scenery. A round-trip hike takes about 90 minutes with moderate difficulty, making it a great choice for a holiday outdoor adventure.

The Jiuliaoxi Natural Trail can be accessed via a service road about 0.5 km from the gas station at the intersection of Provincial Highway 7 and Tayi Bridge. From there, you’ll reach the entrance of the Jiuliaoxi Natural Ecology Education Park, and then walk another approximately 2.2 km to get to the entrance of the Jiuliaoxi Natural Trail. The route is shaded by dense tree canopies and accompanied by the sound of flowing streams, with ferns and vines clinging to treetops and cliffs like an aerial garden.

In addition, you can also visit the nearby popular attraction, Songluo Trail, which feels like an undisturbed paradise on earth. Visitors are always left in awe. With the ecologically rich Songluo Stream beneath your feet, this trail, along with Jianqing Nostalgia Trail and Linmei Stone Slab Trail, is known as one of Yilan’s three most beautiful trails.

Jiuliaoxi Natural Trail
Transportation Info: Access the trail from the road beside the CPC gas station at the 99.8 km mark of Provincial Highway 7, at the border between Sanyi Township and Datong Township. Travel from Sanyi Township over Tayi Bridge to the Jiuliaoxi Natural Ecology Education Park, then continue for another 1.5 km to reach the trail entrance.
