Numb in the soles of your feet? The Maokong Gondola's

Do you think transparent cable cars are only available abroad? Now you can experience this unprecedentedly magical ride in Taiwan too — the breathtaking forest scenery right beneath your feet, viewed through special glass. The Maokong Gondola’s newly launched “Eyes of Maokong Gondola” (Eyes of Maokong Gondola) Crystal Cabin has been met with rave reviews and is currently available at the original price, no extra charge needed.

Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation stated that the current system availability of the Maokong Gondola is as high as 99.92%. The floor of the “Eyes of Maokong Gondola” Crystal Cabin consists of three layers of tempered glass, with a total thickness of approximately 48 mm and a glass weight of about 213 kg. It was installed under the guidance of specially assigned technicians from SIGMA, the French POMA system cabin manufacturer, and the transparent glass installed has passed European CE safety certification. The standard Maokong Gondola cabins can carry a maximum weight of 640 kg and accommodate up to 8 people, while the “Eyes of Maokong Gondola” Crystal Cabin is limited to 5 passengers. Travelers can choose to ride either the standard cabin or the “Eyes of Maokong Gondola” Crystal Cabin.

The “Eyes of Maokong Gondola” Crystal Cabin officially launched on November 2, and the number of such cabins increased to 30 by the 6th. These cable cars, equipped with specially designed transparent floor glass, offer direct aerial views of Maokong. Due to load-bearing requirements, each Crystal Cabin is limited to 5 passengers. However, due to high demand, a “numbered ticket” system is in place — passengers board according to their drawn time slot and number. The initial fare remains unchanged (maximum one-way fare is NT$50, round-trip ticket NT$100).
