Plant a tree for our children on November 19
To care for the Earth's environment and respond to the tree-planting and carbon-reduction lifestyle, the Yilan County Government and the Luodong Forest District Office of the Forestry Bureau under the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, jointly held a “Plant a Tree for Our Children” tree-planting activity at 10:00 AM on November 19, 2010, at the planned site of the Xinan Second Administrative Center (next to the Luodong Forest District Office), aiming to invigorate greening efforts.
The Agriculture Department of Yilan County Government stated that the tree-planting activity will begin with registration at 9:40 AM. On the day of the event, in addition to giving participants the hands-on joy of planting trees, 2,000 saplings will be distributed to those attending. Residents of Yilan County are encouraged not to miss this opportunity to participate in carbon-reducing tree planting, allowing trees to take root in the earth, jointly greening our homes, and contributing to the Earth's carbon reduction. It is hoped that through this tree-planting activity, the concept of carbon reduction will be deeply rooted in everyone’s mind, and a better living environment will be created for the next generation. Additionally, on the day of the event, the Education Department of Yilan County Government mobilized 14 schools across the county to carry out campus tree planting and greening activities, adding further significance to the event.
A total of 2,000 saplings (including Taiwan cherry, Taiwan maple, sweet gum, osmanthus, michelia, and Michelia figo) will be given away on the day of the event, distributed on a first-come, first-served basis; in response to the government’s energy-saving and environmental protection policies, participants are asked to bring their own drinking water and eco-friendly bags for sapling transport.
