Beef noodles are one of Taiwan’s most famous and beloved culinary specialties. For many years, Taipei has hosted an annual Beef Noodle Festival, which has become a major event and benchmark in the beef noodle world. The selected restaurants always attract long queues, and the three-day-long Beef Noodle Festival that started on December 3rd concluded on the 5th with the announcement of this year’s top three beef noodle masters, divided into three categories: red-braised, clear-broth, and creative. Notably, “Hong Shifu Noodle Shop” has won the championship three times before and claimed the title again this year.

The top three in the clear-broth category were: Banqiao Royal Beef Noodles, Qingcong Professional Beef Noodles, and Qingzang Old Brand Beef Noodles; in the red-braised category: Hong Shifu Noodle Shop, Banqiao Royal Beef Noodles, and Zhiming Beef Ramen; and in the creative category: Fengshan Tangwei Snack Shop, Royal Tea Garden Flagship Store, and Spicy Paradise Beef Noodles. The public vote for the most popular also crowned Banqiao Royal Beef Noodles (clear-broth), Hong Shifu Noodle Shop (red-braised), and Spicy Paradise Beef Noodles.

Mayor Hau Lung-pin said that the annual Beef Noodle Festival keeps getting better each year, helping to establish beef noodles as a representative street food of Taipei and significantly boosting the industry's value. In the future, he hopes that not only will the Taipei Beef Noodle Festival continue to thrive, but that “Taipei Beef Noodles” will become as iconic as “Peking Duck” or “French red wine,” making beef noodle culture an important part of Taipei’s food heritage.
