Next year’s Lunar New Year holiday spans six days. Have you decided where to go for your vacation? To reward yourself for a year of hard work, why not spend quality time with your family and indulge in Michelin-starred cuisine in Macau? Known as a food paradise, Macau offers Taiwanese travelers not only visa-free entry, but also just a 90-minute flight and zero language barriers—making it perfect for planning a short and simple getaway.

The recently released "2011 Hong Kong & Macau Edition – Michelin Guide" features nine restaurants in Macau. These include “Robuchon a Galera,” located inside the Grand Lisboa Hotel in Macau, which retains its prestigious three-star rating this year. Managed by Frankcky Semblat, the top disciple of the renowned French chef Joel Robuchon, the restaurant continues the legacy of culinary excellence and uncompromising standards.
Meanwhile, “Zi Yat Heen” at Four Seasons Hotel maintains its two-star status, while “8 Restaurant” and “Taotaoju Kitchen” have both been promoted to two-star Michelin restaurants. Other one-star winners include “Sushi Saito” (operated under the name “Su Zhe Hui”) at Galaxy Hotel, famous for modern Shanghai cuisine; “Lei Garden” at The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel; “Aurora” at Altira Macau; “Wang Fu” at Wynn Macau; and first-time listed Italian restaurant “The Eight.” These restaurants have long enjoyed global reputations for delighting diners’ palates, and their Michelin stars further affirm Macau’s well-deserved status as a culinary destination.

Think Michelin cuisine is always pricey? The Michelin Guide also highlights great value options such as “Lung Wah Tea House,” “Cheung Kei Noodle Shop,” “Zhou Mian Zhuang,” and “Shi Ba Fang.” In addition, “Luk Kee Porridge & Noodles,” beloved by locals, has been newly recommended by the Michelin Guide. Don’t miss their signature dishes like succulent crab porridge and springy, chewy rice flour fish balls.
