Take your first step toward health on this "Centennial New Year's Day" milestone. To promote Taitung as a healthy, leisurely, and livable city, the Taitung County Government will launch the nation’s earliest 10,000 Steps Walk event at midnight on January 1, 2011, starting from the countdown party venue at Taitung Seaside Park, leading participants on a health-focused walk.
Highway 9’s sea of flowers is a renowned seasonal attraction.
The event features two walking routes — the Taitung Railway Station Route (approximately 7.5 km) and the Fugang Fishing Port Route (approximately 7 km). Participants are encouraged to walk healthily to either Taitung Railway Station or Fugang Fishing Port, then take public transportation such as dawn trains, buses, or ferries to destinations like Taimali, Sanxiantai, and Green Island to welcome the first rays of sunshine of the year 2011.
Here is the transportation information for watching the sunrise:
1. Taimali Dawn Train: Free ride; commemorative round-trip tickets for the Centennial Dawn Special Train will be distributed on-site upon completing the walk.
Taitung Station → Taimali Station: Train departure times at 4:15 and 4:30
Taimali Station → Taitung Station: Train departure times at 7:08 and 8:30
2. Sanxiantai Dawn Tourist Bus: A total of 7 buses available, free of charge.
Boarding location: in front of Taitung Railway Station; bus departure time at 4:30
3. Green Island Dawn Ferry: Users pay; discounted round-trip fare of NT$500 for this specific sailing.
Fugang Fishing Port, Taitung → Green Island: Ferry departure time at 5:30
