Recently, the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration held an online essay and voting campaign titled “A Love Story.” The campaign ended on December 15, and the top six stories were chosen. Particularly touching was the story of a grandfather from the senior group, who is over 80 years old and suffering from senile dementia. Before he loses his memory, he wants to give his childhood bride, his grandmother, a long-overdue wedding. With the help of his filial and thoughtful granddaughter-in-law who submitted the story and the assistance of the Dapeng Bay Administration, this wish is set to come true.

The “A Love Story” online essay campaign ran for 30 days, drawing enthusiastic participation from netizens. There were 92 entries from Taiwan, 4 from Hong Kong, and 1 from the senior group. Netizens from both Taiwan and Hong Kong shared their love stories and journeys of getting to know their partners on the campaign’s webpage. Some wrote about how their grandparents had supported each other through over 60 years of life together. The Hong Kong participant is even looking forward to inviting her foreign boyfriend to visit Taiwan together during this party event. The results of the judging and the winners of the computerized random draw have been announced on the website. The top six stories selected will see their protagonists invited to Little Liuqiu for a complimentary, exclusive Love Pledge Party. Additionally, participants were entered into a random draw for prizes, including the grand prize: an Epson EH-DM3 (a 3-in-1 audiovisual projector) worth nearly NT$30,000, as well as accommodation vouchers at premium hotels in Kenting such as Caesar Park, Chateau de Chine, and Fuhang.

The organizers will host a complimentary, exclusive Love Pledge Party for these six couples in Little Liuqiu. The Love Pledge Party is scheduled for January 15 of the year 100 (2011). Whether the couples in the stories are already married, still in a passionate relationship, or about to tie the knot, all are welcome, and they are also encouraged to invite their family and friends to attend as witnesses. The organizers will also gift a two-day, one-night romantic trip, covering the round-trip transportation costs for the selected couples, as well as providing round-trip boat tickets, a one-night stay in a double honeymoon suite at a Little Liuqiu-style homestay, a romantic candlelight dinner for two and breakfast, a “love salami” symbolizing everlasting love, dinner vouchers for a romantic candlelight dinner for two, four sets of 10T photos or family portraits for up to four people, and a pair of couple’s sunglasses — a total of gifts worth approximately NT$60,000.
