As the weather clears up and the sun shines more often, flower seasons are kicking off across the country. Have you decided where to go this spring? Besides being a famous hot spring destination, Taitung’s Zhiben also lets you experience the Bunun people’s annual festival, cycling along the East Coast, and the Flying Ghost God Festival, among other cultural events. The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration has planned the one-month-long ‘Zhiben Spring Festival’ in March, during which domestic and international performance troupes and well-known singers will be invited to Zhiben. Paired with a hot spring food carnival and fireworks displays, the event brings the public together in a lively and colorful atmosphere. The opening ceremony of the first week includes eco-friendly balloon doves for visitors’ blessings, flame dance performances by fire dancing groups, spectacular and vibrant. On-site performances by famous singers such as Rainie Yang, Annie Yi, Lu Xian-Wei, Yoga Lin, and JPM bring diverse musical highlights to the joyful occasion.

The second week’s ‘Timeless Folk Song Festival’ invites Yin Zheng-Yang, Yu Tai-Yan, Li Ming-De, and Xiao Jiang Band to perform folk songs from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, bringing back memories of youth through classic folk music. The third week’s ‘Farewell!! Youth Ridge’ is a classic Mandarin and Hokkien oldies showcase, featuring Da Bai He, Hsieh Lei, Kao Xiang-Peng, and star singer Chang Shi-Tang, taking everyone on a nostalgic trip to the golden years. The fourth week, ‘The Glorious Era, A Brilliant Splash’, invites the internationally acclaimed group ‘National Theatre Troupe’ and bard Dak Naonao. The event kicks off with a blessing dance of Zhong Kui, followed by performances by kung fu beauties and indigenous dance troupes, delivering high energy and enthusiasm. Interested visitors can head to Taitung to enjoy the rich experiences at the Zhiben Spring Festival.
