Southern Taiwan hotels embrace a fashion-forward trend as Kaohsiung CTBC August undergoes a brand-new makeover

Taiwan is home to many well-regarded hotels, and the Kaohsiung area has seen a surge in tourism thanks to the opening of its MRT system in recent years. As a result, business hotels, tourist accommodations, and more have been growing steadily. On February 11, CTBC Hotel Kaohsiung, operated by Yunglo Tourism Group, announced its closure for a major renovation project. The hotel is expected to reopen in six months with a completely refreshed look.

Located in Yanchengpu District, Kaohsiung, right next to the Love River, CTBC Hotel Kaohsiung will be the eighth rebranded hotel under Yunglo Tourism Group. This follows others such as Hotel Royal Yasumi, Taipei The Splendor, New Taipei and Hualien Herald Plaza, as well as the Zhao Pin Hotels in Miaoli, Taichung, and Chiayi. It is also the first newly planned business hotel launched by Yunglo Tourism in its 100th year — Kaohsiung Herald Plaza. The guest rooms will feature two distinct design atmospheres, offering travelers a blend of cozy comfort and stylish lines, as well as a fresh sense of understated luxury with a modern twist.

The hotel’s restaurants and public areas are designed by award-winning designer Kung Shu-chang, recipient of Japan's JCD Commercial Environmental Design International Award. Upon opening, it will bring another wave of boutique hotel (Boutique Hotel) trends to Kaohsiung. During the renovation period, to allow customers who love the Nei Gangdu Teahouse at CTBC Hotel Kaohsiung to continue enjoying its delicious cuisine, Yunglo Tourism plans to open a new branch on the eighth floor of Kaohsiung Dream Mall in May, bringing back the authentic flavors in their freshest form. This will also mark the first time Yunglo Tourism has ventured into operating an external restaurant.
