Starting March 19, the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration will launch the "Century-old Checheng Nostalgia Music Event" at the Railway Culture Square in the Checheng Recreation Area—featuring Checheng Saturday Music Banquets and Checheng Saturday Nostalgic Open-Air Movies. Those who love "old songs," "old movies," and "old trains" might enjoy a peaceful mountain retreat with friends and take a nostalgic trip to Checheng.
Open-air movies and nostalgic concerts will be held at the Checheng Railway Plaza.
The Checheng Saturday Music Banquets will take place on March 19, March 26, April 2, April 9, April 16, April 30, May 14, May 28, June 11, and June 25. The performances will kick off with a brass quintet from members of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, followed by rotating acts such as the successors of old-time singer Huang Sanyuan, the Xu Zhicheng Band, and the Jiji Silk & Bamboo Zheng Ensemble. Using an old timber transport flatcar from the Taiwan Railways Administration as the performance venue, audiences and performers alike will enjoy unique experiences.
The retro Taiwan Railways station is a favorite among railway enthusiasts.
The nostalgic open-air movie screenings will feature classic films, including 10 carefully selected old movies such as *Oolong Brothers*, *Scarecrow*, and *The Big Doll of My Son*, bringing back cherished memories for those born in the 1940s and 1950s. In addition to this season’s featured performances, on March 19, Yulon Motor Company will also host the "LUXGEN FUN" car owners’ event at the Checheng Recreation Area, expected to attract 500 LUXGEN vehicles and 1,500 attendees for a full-day celebration, adding to the event’s excitement.
