As early summer arrives, the firefly season in Alishan is just around the corner. The “2011 New Impression of Alishan: Stars Meet Fireflies, Light Reappears – Dancing with Fireflies” event will run from April 2 to June 30. To celebrate this annual firefly-viewing season, a special promotion has been launched, offering daily accommodation, meals, and guided tours for as low as NT$999 per person. The “Dancing with Fireflies” opening ceremony kicked off on April 2, with the Firefly Season inauguration held in the Lijia Community, featuring a “Firefly Release” activity. On April 14, the Guanghua Community will stage a traditional-style Firefly Wedding Performance, presented by students from Guanghua Elementary School and local community moms—offering a rare cultural treat. Additionally, to promote the conservation of fireflies and sustainable ecology, a volunteer protection event will be held in the Ruili Community on April 21. Participants will take action together to preserve firefly habitats and help create the best living environment for these beloved insects.
