Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the nation, the North Coast National Scenic Area Administration has specially planned a series of annual events themed “Smiling North Coast, 100% Happiness.” These include a wedding photography competition, mascot song submissions, eagle watching at Guanyin Mountain, family cycling eco-tours, and a music festival by the sea. The top prize for the wedding photography competition is as high as NT$100,000, and participating couples can also enjoy special offers from wedding cake and jewelry businesses.

Photography enthusiasts can start visiting the North Coast from today (April 1) to capture its rich cultural landscapes and compete for the chance to win the NT$100,000 prize on their own. Newlyweds featured in the photos can also enjoy special offers such as “Century of Happiness, Second-Hand Wedding Dresses for NT$1,999” and wedding packages from Taipei-based bridal studios. Additionally, Dah black Song Xiao Liang Kou offers an unprecedented 35% discount on its “Encounter LOVE” gift box, and Jinshi Meng Jewelry provides an 85% discount on any purchase. This year’s “2011 Guanyin. Eagle Watching” event is organized by the Taipei Wild Bird Society, featuring activities such as natural ecology guided tours and lectures, challenge games, and a delicious farmers’ market. The opening ceremony will be held at the Guanyin Mountain Visitor Center on April 23, followed by “Guanyin. Eagle Watching” exploration days on four Sundays: April 24, May 1, 8, and 15.

To make it easier for visitors to explore the North Coast area, Kuo-Kuang Holiday has launched two sightseeing bus routes: the “Leisurely One-Day Tour of the North Coast” and the “Left Bank Guanyin Mountain One-Day Tour.” Buses depart every Saturday and Sunday as long as there are 30 participants, at NT$399 per person, including transportation, guided tours, and either entry to Yehliu Geopark or the ferry ride from Bali to Tamsui.
