The American-style fried chicken chain Papa Fat’s, which skyrocketed in popularity in 2017, now has over 200 outlets nationwide. You can find Papa Fat’s everywhere across Taiwan, beloved by consumers. Recently, Papa Fat’s quietly announced on Facebook that starting from March 1, prices will be adjusted upward, ranging from an increase of ¥5 to ¥30. The news has sparked heated discussion among netizens.

Papa Fat’s stated in their post that due to being unable to withstand the rising costs of domestically processed chicken and raw materials, they will uniformly adjust meal prices at all national outlets starting March 1. Meals one to three will go up by ¥5 each, meal four by ¥10, and meals five and six will rise by ¥30—the largest increases. Additionally, all snacks under ¥30 will be raised to ¥35.
