Dig out your old photo albums — Taipei City is calling for vintage photos!

Do you have any yellowing photos from years ago? Decades-old photos bear witness to the development and changes of the city. Taipei’s history, conveyed through images, can transport everyone back in time to the homes of us or our parents’ generation. The Taipei Public Library is hosting the “Travel Through Time. Discover Taipei — Taipei City Vintage Photo Selection” event until September 30. Any photos related to Taipei’s people, events, places, or objects taken before 1996 (the 85th year of the Republic of China) are eligible to participate.

Whether it’s photos of the Old West Gate or the Old Roundabout, they all seem to take you back in time. The Taipei Public Library held a vintage photo collection event two years ago, which received enthusiastic participation from the public. This year, an additional 100 submission slots have been added to broaden the collection. The public can dig out their grandparents’ photo albums or even flip through their own childhood photos — you might have captured a historic moment of Taipei City. These precious photos will be permanently preserved and digitized, allowing future generations to continue browsing and enjoying them.

In addition to individual submissions, the organizers also welcome historical images from various organizations and groups. After being reviewed by the judging committee, selected photos may receive copyright fees ranging from NT$300 to NT$5,000.
