The Qigu Salt Sculpture Art Festival kicks off with a romantic salt mountain celebration on Qixi Festival

To revitalize the local "salt" industry and create a new "white tourism" trend, the South Cloud, Chiayi, and Tainan Coastal National Scenic Area Administration held the "2011 Qigu Salt Sculpture Art Festival" on August 6 and 7. On the opening day of Qixi Valentine's Day, August 6, couples who climb the salt mountain to exchange vows can receive a love fortune bag (limited to 500), and couples dressed in lover-themed outfits can enter the Taiwan Salt Museum for free (limited to 100 pairs).

In addition to the "Salt Sculpture Art Exhibition," "Qigu Music Concert," "Salt Delicacy Demonstration and Tasting," "Salt DIY Workshops," and "Salt Field Experiences," the Qigu Salt Sculpture event on August 6 also features a "Salt Mountain Qixi Night Party" with performances by pop ballad prince TANK, idol singer SIGMA, glamorous dance shows, the Kaka Rock Band, and a fireworks display to entertain visitors on Valentine's night. Furthermore, to elevate the standard of domestic salt sculpture creation and cultivate more enthusiasts, a "Salt Sculpture Creation Competition" has been organized, with 21 teams registered, including many skilled domestic sculptors—promising an exciting showcase.

To coincide with Qixi Valentine's Day, the first 100 couples or married pairs who sign up for the 10:00 AM "Salt Mountain Kiss for 100 Seconds" activity on August 6 will receive a "Love You Mask" or souvenir from Taiwan Salt Corporation. Additionally, during the event period, the organizers have planned a series of perks: visitors who collect three stamps at the "Salt Mountain Recreation Area," "Taiwan Salt Museum," and "Lohas Village" using the event flyer can receive a beautiful gift. To provide convenient transportation for visitors, the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle’s Route 99 (Jiangong Line) will operate three additional departures from Tainan Park at 3:45 PM, 4:45 PM, and 6:45 PM on August 6, heading to Qigu Salt Mountain, with return times at 7:10 PM and 10:00 PM.
