Light is used to create a four-season atmosphere for the first time ever in Tainan’s Moon Lake Harbor Lantern Festival, which kicks off grandly on the 21st.

Blending art into local communities and traditional lantern festivals, the “2017 Moon Lake Harbor Lantern Festival” creates a creative event that combines local culture and natural landscapes. Since its inception in 2010, it has become a major cultural event not to be missed during Taiwan’s Lunar New Year celebrations. This year, nearly 50 art lantern installations will be on display, including 7 large-scale landscape works and 4 pieces by international artists. The exhibition period spans over a month. 1. High-Speed Rail: Take the train to Chiayi HSR Station, then transfer to Bus Yellow 9 to Xinying Bus Terminal. From there, take Brown Trunk Line, Brown 1, Brown 2, or Brown 3 branch buses to visit Yanshui and enjoy the Moon Lake Harbor Lantern Festival.
2. Train: Take the train to Xinying Railway Station, then transfer to Brown Trunk Line, Brown 1, 2, or 3 branch buses at the Xinying Bus Terminal in front of the station. Get off at Qiaonan Old Street Station or Yanshui Station to view the lantern festival.

National Freeway 1 → Exit at Xinying Interchange → Head toward Yanshui along Provincial Highway 172 → After passing Mingda High School in Xinying → South Gate Road in Yanshui → Turn right onto Qiaonan Street → Moon Lake Harbor, Yanshui, Tainan City

During the event period, the Brown Trunk Line (64 including extra runs), Brown 1 (6), Brown 2 (8), Brown 3 (6), and bus routes 7407 (18), 7408 (16), 7410 (20) will operate 138 trips daily. To ensure pedestrian safety and alleviate traffic congestion experienced in past Yanshui Lantern Festivals, a temporary “Qiaonan Old Street” bus stop has been added. Bus routes (Brown Trunk Line, Brown 1, Brown 3) will be rerouted during the first five days of the Lunar New Year and throughout the lantern festival period. Originally scheduled stops such as the “Land Administration Office” and “Yuejin Elementary School” in Yanshui will not be serviced on weekends, and buses will instead stop at the “Police Substation” station of the highway bus route to avoid congested areas. In 2016, extra bus runs were moderately adjusted in timing, and flexible additional services may be considered on weekends.
