Hong Kong’s Halloween Carnival Month: Dance with Hào Jiǎo Xiángqǐ in Spooky Style

Halloween is a fun holiday where you can openly dress up as ghosts and ghouls. Although Halloween is still about two months away, the spooky forces of the “2011 Hong Kong Halloween Carnival Month” are already gearing up. The Hong Kong Tourism Board will invite entertainers “Hào Jiǎo Xiángqǐ” to lead the charge as kings of both Eastern and Western ghosts. On the evening of August 19, they will host the “East Meets West Halloween Night Party – Join the Fun in Hong Kong!” at the Red House in Ximending. They are calling on hundreds of fans to dress up as ghosts and dance the Thriller zombie dance along with Michael Jackson, giving everyone an early taste of Hong Kong’s Halloween Carnival Month.

Xu Weini, Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s Taiwan Office, said that the fourth annual “Hong Kong Halloween Carnival Month” will take place from September 22 to October 31. Fashion-forward Hong Kong will transform into a city of Halloween revelry, with major attractions including “Hong Kong Disneyland,” “Madame Tussauds Hong Kong,” and “Ocean Park Hong Kong” all launching thrilling and fun events. Malls, restaurants, and bars across the city will also be decked out with spooky Halloween decorations. Especially on October 30 and 31, all kinds of ghosts and ghouls will be out on the streets, creating a full festive Halloween atmosphere.

At the August 19 event at the Red House in Ximending, “Hong Kong Disneyland,” “Madame Tussauds Hong Kong,” and “Ocean Park Hong Kong” will also send their most frightening Halloween characters to join in the fun, giving everyone an early taste of the excitement and surprises of Hong Kong’s Halloween. The first 100 participants who sign up for the ghost dance will receive exclusive limited-edition souvenirs from the theme parks.
