A real-life version of Happy Farm: adopt agricultural produce and monitor it online

What kind of spark will emerge when “the internet” meets “agriculture”? Agriculture has always been a traditional industry, yet it is also a vital economic lifeline for Taitung. With technological advancements, Taitung has combined these two to develop the 3D Taitung Online Farm. President Ma Ying-jeou became the first adopter of the Taitung Online Farm, adopting high-quality Taitung crops via live video feed.

The “3D” in the 3D Taitung Online Farm stands for Digital, Diversity, and Delivery—these are also the key focuses of Taitung County Government’s new service, the “Taitung County Online Farm.” It is the first of its kind nationwide and the first local government to launch an online pre-order and contract farming platform for “online farm” agricultural products. This allows everyone to directly book a wide variety of Taitung-grown produce—such as custard apples, rice, tea, and coffee—online from farmers, interact with farmers in real time, and even view live footage from the production sites, ensuring consumers can “see it for themselves and feel reassured.” Harvested produce is delivered promptly to customers.

By integrating internet technology with agricultural production, the initiative aims to create the most direct and substantial benefits for farmers. Currently, there are only 10 spots available for initial demonstration farmers. Organizers hope to continuously expand the scale in the future and integrate it with leisure agriculture to benefit more farmers, giving everyone the opportunity to participate.
